LONGVIEW — LeTourneau University will feature Dr. Carrie Burns, U.S. educational programs director for International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, to speak on the past and present challenges of Israel during a special chapel service at 10:50 a.m., Monday, March 25, in the S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave., in Longview. The event is free and open to the public.

Established in 1980, ICEJ is headquartered in Jerusalem with branches in countries around the world. The organization seeks to show Christian support for the nation of Israel by informing international communities of the land’s biblical significance and modern-day struggles. In addition to spreading information, ICEJ provides financial aid to Israel and encourages participation in practical socioeconomic relief efforts. Burns teaches people about Israel’s culture and history, particularly the issues of the Holocaust and anti-Semitism, through trips to Jerusalem and a number of speaking engagements across the United States.



She earned a doctorate in education from the University of Illinois. Burns has also received a scholarship to study the International School for Holocaust Educators at Yad Vashem, an eminent museum dedicated to the remembrance of the Holocaust. In 1995, she founded Great News Radio, an Urbana, Illinois station that broadcasts the Christian message and promotes biblical understanding. Burns is also director of creative services at Great News, managing the station’s goals in current and future endeavors.



LeTourneau University is an interdenominational Christ-centered university located in Longview, Texas, with undergraduate and graduate programs online and at education centers around the state.
