                                        The 66th Annual Jefferson Historical Pilgrimage

                      

                        Inside the Gates of Jefferson

                                                              

                                                            May 2, 3, 4, & 5, 2013

 

Jefferson is located on Big Cypress Bayou in northeast Texas and is rich with historic preservation, antique and gift shops, bed and breakfast inns, fine restaurants, museums, a new incredible model railroad located within its own recently built building, historic Oakwood Cemetery, beautiful old churches, steam train ride, riverboat rides and tours, horse-drawn carriages, mule-drawn wagons, Jay Gould’s impressive private rail car, and the Excelsior House Hotel which has been in continuous operation since 1858.  You will enjoy attractions which are located wit in a compact historical district ideally suited for walking if so inclined.

 

Among the many amenities you may experience during your visit will be:

 

               Period dressed guides in four historic homes (Dunlora built in 1867; White Oak Manor built in             

               1911; Moseley Manor built in 1851 and The Beard House built in 1860)(May 3-4)

 

               The Excelsior House Grand Ballroom luncheon buffet (Saturday 11:30 – 2:00) Please make    

               reservations for this event.

 

               Quilt and Fiber-Art Show

 

               Crafts Fair and Heirloom Plant Sale

 

               Twilight Garden Stroll through four beautiful gardens

 

               The Pilgrimage parade (Saturday morning at 10:00) which always ends with those pesky Yankee                    

               Soldiers disrupting the event

 

               The re-enactment of the Presentation of Colors to the Jefferson Guard as they leave to fight for

               the Confederacy (10:00 Sunday morning/Christ Episcopal Church, outdoors)

 

               Five performances of the 59th production of the very popular, ”Diamond Bessie Murder Trial”         

               (Advance tickets are strongly advised.)

 

Battle for Port Jefferson Civil War Re-enactment

 

Tour buses are welcome with special accommodations for parking.
