A representative of Court Appointed Special Advocates, an organization which assists foster children, will speak at the Cherokee Rose Republican Women's monthly meeting Monday, Feb. 27, outside Gilmer.

Jennifer Stanton, who specializes in supervised visitation of children by non-custorial parents, will address the 6:30 p.m. meeting at Lantana Activity Center on Lantana Road..

The public is invited and light refreshments will be served, said Cherokee Rose First Vice-President/Secretary Joyce Dolle.

Stanton works in CASA's Longview office. The organization trains volunteers to advocate in court for neglected, abused and lonely children in the foster care system.

Last month, a Longview certified public accountant, John Ussery, spoke to the Cherokee Rose group on the subject of taxes, said Dolle.
