Some candidates for federal and state offices in the March 4 GOP primary, or their representatives, are scheduled to speak, and all candidates for Upshur County office in that primary will also be allowed to address the gathering, said Upshur GOP Chairman Cynthia Ridgeway.
Scheduled so far to appear, she said, are Glenn Hegar, candidate for State Comptroller; Bryan Slaton, representing another candidate for that office, Harvey Hilderbran; Robert Talton, candidate for Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court; and Amy Miller, representing U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in his bid for reelection.
Those attending have the option to pay to have dinner and are encouraged to do so, Mrs. Ridgeway said.
A candidate for the GOP nomination for State Land Commissioner, Upshur Countian David Watts Jr, is scheduled to address the Cherokee Rose Republican Women at their Feb. 24 meeting, said Mrs. Ridgeway.
The event is set for 2 p.m. at the Country Club. Those desiring to have lunch first should arrive by 1 p.m.
