Delta County, Colo., Announces Summer Events Schedule

- Festivals focus on region's agricultural roots and outdoor beauty -



 



Delta County, Colo. - Delta County Tourism Cabinet today announced its signature events line-up just in time for summer vacation planning. When coming to Delta County for one of these exceptional events, families should take some extra time to enjoy the area's outdoor attractions and activities; wineries, orchards and ranches; and exceptional public lands.



 


June 7-10 - 34th Annual Pioneer Days, Crawford


This year's theme is "The Wild West - Boots, Hats & Vests." The hilarious outhouse races are one of the highlights of the event. Also on tap - an old-fashioned melodrama, baking contest, dinner and auction, a fire department-sponsored pancake breakfast, free games for kids, live entertainment, a Cowboy Cook-off, a parade, horseshoe tournament, and vendors of all types.


 


June 16-17 - North Fork Uncorked, Paonia


Hosted by the winemakers of Paonia and Hotchkiss, this event celebrates the burgeoning wine region in Delta County with newly released wines of the West Elks AVA. Festivities include wine and food pairings, live music, entertainment, and winemaker dinners.


 


July 6-8 - Paonia Cherry Days

Now in its 66th year, Paonia Cherry Days is one of the oldest, continuously-running, annual outdoor festivals in Colorado. Activities include rides, a parade, artists and craftsmen, a cook-off, a street dance, musical entertainment, and fireworks.


 


July 13-15 - Little Britches Rodeo, Cedaredge

This is the longest-running Little Britches Rodeo in the world. Hundreds of cowpokes, ages five to 18 years old, compete for prizes, cash and bragging rights.




July 19-22 - Deltarado Days, Delta


This authentic Western fiesta dates back to 1936 and includes food, live music, street dances, a parade and other family fun.


 


Aug. 4-5 - West Elk Wine Trail, Paonia

This event celebrates the wines of the West Elk AVA and the North Fork Valley. Events include winery, vineyard and orchard tours; tastings; special food and wine pairings; gallery tours; and chef-prepared meals.


 


Aug. 5-11 - Delta County Fair, Delta

This event is all about good old-fashioned family fun! Enjoy live entertainment, great food and a rodeo, as well as the typical county fair competitions including livestock, produce, canned goods, quilts and sewing. 


 


Aug. 10-12 - Food, Farm Film & Wine Festival (a.k.a. Flim Flam), Paonia

Presented by the Western Slope and Roaring Fork Slow Food Chapters, this fourth annual event features food, wine and films. The two-day festival price is $125 and Slow Food members receive a discount.


 


Sept. 27-29 - Mountain Harvest Festival, Paonia

The annual Mountain Harvest Festival is a community celebration of agriculture, art, music, and life on Colorado's Western Slope. The festival features locally grown and produced agricultural products, including local beer and wine and offers the opportunity to meet local farmers, artists, musicians, craftsmen and performers.
