East Texas Communities Foundation Now Accepting Scholarship Applications from East Texas Students

January 9, 2012 — East Texas Communities Foundation believes that hard work should be rewarded, especially to students in East Texas!  The Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications for its various scholarship funds. Deadline for submission is March 1, 2013.  All applications and eligibility criteria are available at http://www.etcf.org/available_scholarships.htm

The scholarships being offered this year are:

 

David G. and Jacqueline M. Braithwaite Scholarship for Vocational/Technical Study in Medically Related Fields: For East Texas students pursuing a vo/tech AA degree or certificate in a medically related field. Amount: $1,500.00 - renewable for the length of the program.

 

David G. and Jacqueline M. Braithwaite Scholarship in Chemistry: For East Texas graduating seniors majoring in chemistry.  Amount: $3,000.00 - renewable for 3 years

 

David G. and Jacqueline M. Braithwaite Scholarship in Medicine, Biotechnology, and Veterinary Medicine: For East Texas graduating seniors who plan to major in biology, mathematics, engineering or a related field which will allow them to pursue a career in medicine, veterinary medicine, or biotechnology. Amount: $3,000.00 - renewable for 3 years

 

J.M. Braithwaite TJC Nursing Scholarship: For East Texas student pursuing a nursing degree at Tyler Junior College. Amount: $1,000.00 - renewable

 

Dr. Elbert H. Caldwell Scholarship: For an East Texas resident wishing to pursue a career in a medically related field, with preference for nursing. Amount: $2,500.00 - renewable scholarship

 

East Texas Geological Society Scholarship: For a student pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in geology in the State of Texas. Must be a sophomore, or higher, in college at time of application. Amount: $1,500.00 - renewable for a total of 2 years

 

Richard B. and Mary Lou Hamm Scholarship: For Bullard High School graduates attending the University of Texas at Tyler. Amount: $1,000.00 - renewable for a total of 4 years

 

 

Gladys and Thomas “TB” Stewart Scholarship: For graduating seniors from Smith County and surrounding high schools. Amount:  $2,000.00 - renewable for a total of 4 years

 

Winifred George Scholarship: For graduating seniors from a Smith County high school attending Abilene Christian University. Amount:  $1,000.00 - renewable for a total of 4 years

 

Adam Carroll Scholarship: For Grand Saline High School graduating seniors who have participated in high school athletics or cheerleading (Van Zandt, Wood or Smith County only). Amount:  $500.00

 

Betty and Roy Erickson Scholarship: For graduating seniors from an East Texas High School

Amount: $1,000.00

 

Alex Fleming Infinity Scholarship: For graduating seniors from Whitehouse High School who have participated in the band for four years. Amount:  $1,500.00

 

Citizens 1st Bank/Perkins Family Foundation Scholarship: For children of state employees who are residents of Cherokee, Nacogdoches or Smith County. Amount: $1,000.00

 

Tim King Memorial Scholarship: For a graduating senior from Robert E. Lee H.S. in Tyler who plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in business. Amount: $2,500.00

 

Juliette Low's Amazing Girls Scholarship: For a female resident of Smith County who is a graduating senior from a Smith County high school or home schooled who was involved in Girl Scouting.

Amount: $1,000.00

 

Chris Lyon Memorial Scholarship: For art majors at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Amount: $1,000.00

 

Lauren Lewis Scholarship: For graduating seniors from Robert E. Lee High School and All Saints Episcopal School of Tyler who plan to attend Texas A&M University. Amount: $1,000.00

 

Natural Gas Society of East Texas Scholarship: For Texas college students at the undergraduate or graduate level who have declared a major in a field of study which directly relates to the energy industry. Amount:  $1,000.00

 

Gary Neel Memorial Scholarship: For Robert E. Lee High School graduating senior who will be attending the University of Texas at Austin.  Amount: $2,500.00

 

Partners in Arts Scholarship: For Smith County graduating seniors planning on pursuing a degree in one of the performing or visual arts.  Amount: $1,000.00

 

Leslie Reid Memorial Scholarship: For any female Henderson County senior who has participated in horse shows in Henderson County. Amount: $1,000.00

 

Retail Merchants Association Scholarship: For Smith County graduating seniors that plan to major in business. Amount:  $1,000.00

 

Kristen and Joey Seeber Scholarship: For graduating seniors from Robert E. Lee High School and John Tyler High School. Amount:  $500.00

 

Sharyland Utilities Scholarship: For graduating seniors from select high schools in Hunt, Collin, and Fannin County, Texas who plan to major in engineering. Amount:  $400.00

 

Smith County Baptist Ministers Scholarship: For dependent children of ordained ministers serving congregations that are members of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Amount: To be determined

 

Gerald and Charlie Stoker Memorial Scholarship: For graduating seniors from Winnsboro High School. Amount: $500.00

 

Texas Rose Festival Scholarship: For graduating seniors from a Smith County high school and current college students with a preference for those who have participated in the Boys and Girls Club of East Texas. Amount: $500.00

 

Tyler Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association Scholarship: For children of a current employee of the City of Tyler Police Department. Amount: $5,000.00

 

Sherilyn A. Willis, M.D. Medical Scholarship: For a student attending medical school in the State of Texas.  Amount: $500.00

 

A.D. and Mary Winston Scholarship: For Smith County graduating seniors students planning to attend Texas A&M University. Amount: $1,000.00

 

Tiffany Lynn Zanolini Memorial Scholarship: For female graduating seniors at a Smith County school who have participated in varsity soccer.  Amount: $1,000.00
