“In September, we helped 561 families with food,” Small said. “There was a total of 1,469 people in those families.”
He said that they also gave out 131 commodity boxes, their total allotment, for the month.
“Almost a third of the total people we helped were childen under the age of 17,” Small said. Twenty-one percent were age 60 or older.
“We gave out 5,000 pounds of fresh produce, which included melons, apples and potatoes, to go along with canned goods, meat and bread in their boxes,” Small said.
