Next Step Community Solutions would like to invite the public to join our coalition to study and discuss underage drinking and drug abuse. Next Step Community Solutions is a nonprofit (501c3) organization based in Tyler. There is no charge to be a part of the coalition and we are not raising money. The coalition is formed under a grant from DSHS to gather community leaders and activists in a 23 county area to review this important issue.
As we all know, addiction to alcohol, nicotine and illegal substances cost Americans millions of dollars each year. More importantly, is its cost in the lives of those addicted, the loss of their potential and the many people affected by their addiction. From the very young babies exposed to drugs in the womb, to adolescents and adults, there is a never ending need to keep the perils of drug abuse at the forefront.
“The purpose of Next Step Community Solution’s prevention program is to provide a coordinated approach to the education, prevention and intervention of substance abuse.” Our participation in the Community Partners Coalition (CPC) is to reach out and work with other organizations and community members to ensure that services are available to help those with addiction and reduce the illegal and harmful use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs by our youth. The coalition works to make sure that drug abuse prevention education and assistance is available and timely by working together to share new ideas with the same goal in mind.
We invite the public to join us for our next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 29 at 11:30 a.m. at the Corner Bistro at 122 Davis Street in Gilmer. Lunch will be Dutch treat. Please join us or send a representative from you organization. Please RSVP to Kristi C. Roberts at Kristi.roberts@nextstepcsi.com or by calling 903-939-9010 or 903-245-1820.
