Red River Radio has a heavy heart with the loss of longtime commentator Archie McDonald whose "Friday morning follies" have been a fixture on our station for more than a decade.  Dr. McDonald passed away Aug. 16 from an illness. He served on the Stephen F. Austin State University faculty for more than 40 years and was beloved in the Nacogdoches community. He was the executive director of the East Texas Historical Association for many years and wrote or edited many books, journals and articles. Most recently, he served SFA as a community liaison, representing the university at many public events. He was a long time member of the Red River Radio Community Advisory Board, serving as our Chairperson for several terms.  He interviewed George Foreman, Alan Bean, and James Baker through his Archie McDonald Speaker Series broadcast on our station. In the classroom, on the streets of Nacogdoches, and on the airwaves, Archie will be missed tremendously.
