Students earn awards at 50th annual East Texas Regional Science Fair

Kyle Ramsey of Navasota High School was awarded the top prize at the 50th annual East Texas Regional Science Fair at Kilgore College March 1.

Ramsey has been awarded a trip to the 2013 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in San Jose, Calif., May 13-18.

Local fair winners from area schools (grades 5-12) were invited to attend the competition. (See graphic accompanying this article for winners from Gilmer High School.)

In addition, the top finisher in each of four categories qualifies to attend the Exxon-Mobil Science and Engineering Fair at The University of Texas at San Antonio, March 26-29.

Specialty awards were given for projects in water, engineering, use of computers and environmental science.

The United States Army, Navy and Air Force also awarded prizes.
