Diana Smith of Texarkana, Texas, will present the Textile Weaving Workshop in the Museum of the Red River, 812 E. Lincoln Road, Idabel, Oklahoma. The workshop will be held on August 16 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Pot-Luck lunch at noon, so bring something yummy to share!

Diana Smith has been weaving for 20 years.  She got started when her son found a loom abandoned in an apartment at the complex where he worked.  She began to teach herself to weave with that loom and with books from the library.  She then took some weaving classes at Texarkana College.  She has enjoyed the journey and wants to share her joy in weaving with others interested in the craft.  Diana has been teaching about 10 years and has held workshops and demonstrations at The Old Washington Historical Park in Arkansas, The Jonquil Festival, and The Broken Bow Forest Heritage Festival among others.

The cost of the workshop is $45 and that includes all materials for the project. There are very limited spaces so please call to register early.  For more information please call the Museum of the Red River at 580-286-3616.
