VA North Texas Health Care System to Host Homeless Veterans Stand Down

What:

It is estimated that 12 percent of America’s homeless are Veterans.  VA North Texas Health Care System is partnering with Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas, Inc. to host the 22nd annual Dallas homeless Veteran stand down event and resource fair for homeless Veterans. Approximately 600 Veterans are expected to attend.

When:

Friday, November 8, 2013

9:15 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Where:

Veterans Resource Center

4900 S. Lancaster Rd.

Dallas, TX 75216

Why:

VA continues its campaign to eliminate homelessness among Veterans by 2015. Homeless Veterans in the Dallas area are encouraged to attend and will receive free lunch, clothing, coats, duffle bags, shoes and personal hygiene kits while supplies last. Other services include haircuts, dental and eye screenings, flu shots, HIV counseling and testing, legal and housing information, employment assistance programs, healing touch therapeutic services, specialty services for women and Veterans benefits services and education. This event is supported by VA North Texas Health Care System and many community partners.
