Former Gilmer Buckeyes quarterback G.J. Kinne of Tulsa has been selected to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second-straight year. The quarterback has established a 3.379 mark as an Exercise and Sports Science major and has been named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (3.0 GPA+) for four semesters. This season, Kinne leads the league in total offense, averaging an impressive 322 yards per game. He has passed for 3,307 yards and 28 touchdowns during the 2010 campaign and received C-USA Offensive Player of the Week accolades twice (Nov. 15 and Nov. 29).
The selections included two graduate students, four seniors, four juniors and one redshirt freshman, as selected by the league’s Sports Information Directors for football. Rice led the way with three student-athletes receiving the honor, while East Carolina, Marshall, Memphis, SMU, Southern Miss, Tulane, Tulsa and UCF each landed one selection.
