      The

2
nd Annual Big Sandy Wildcat Invitational Golf

Tournament will be held on Thursday,

Feb. 24
th at The Embassy Hills Golf Course

on the campus of Alert Academy in Big Sandy beginning at

9:00 a.m. 

      Teams

from Elysian Fields, Canton, New Diana, Hawkins, Gilmer, Gladewater,

North Hopkins, Quitman, Daingerfield, Detroit, Union Grove, Harmony,

Harleton, Chapel Hill-Mt. Pleasant, Sabine, and the host school Big

Sandy will be competing.

      Championship

trophies will be awarded in both girls and boys divisions as well as

individual medalist trophies in both divisions.

      The

girls’ division will be highly contested led by

Senior Kirstie Krueger of Harmony High School; she is a two-time state

qualifier.  Also, the Lady Eagles of Canton High School will compete;

they return three seniors from a regional tournament qualifying team

in 2010.

      The

boys division will feature the appearance of two returning seniors from

the defending 2A boy’s state golf championship team of Quitman High

School.  Sabine High School will also be a strong contender for

the boy’s championship with four

seniors returning from a 2010 district championship team.

      Big

Sandy will feature four senior returners from a 3
rd

place regional tournament team led by Kody McClelland who finished 12
th

overall in last year’s state tournament.
