Taylor Cooper, Harmony FFA member and Area VI FFA President, submitted the designs and three of his designs made it to the finals.
Harmony FFA advisor Rachelle Darby said that “We are trying to get the word out so that everyone can vote for the Harmony FFA shirts.
“If one of the shirts happens to win, our FFA chapter will get 50 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the shirt nationwide,” she said. “We have never had a shirt in the finals before and I believe we may be one of the few chapters in the State of Texas to ever have a shirt make the finals.
Here is the letter that Cody Darby, the other FFA advisor at Harmony, received from Lisa Etter, senior buyer for the National FFA Organization: “I am pleased to advise that three of your designs, Satin Capes, In it for the Chicks, and You Know You’re in FFA When…, have been selected as Finalists in the 2011 Chapter tee Contest.
“A total of 22 designs, including yours, will be posted on www.ffa.org/shop for voting, starting Monday morning, 3/14. Voting closes 3/21, at 7 a.m. EST, and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.
“We encourage you to get the word out to your school and community to support your tees, as 50 percent of the profits from the first year of sales is returned to your chapter. The voting process will utilize the Facebook ‘like’ button, so members will need a Facebook account in order to vote. Your designs, as they will look on the voting page, are attached.
“We are working on the art for You Know You’re in FFA When… here at the 11th hour, so I don’t have the final tee art to show you, but if you look at the 2 attachments, you’ll have a pretty good idea. We will use 15 reasons.”
