NTCC to hold Kids@College camps in June, July

Don’t let your kids sit around being bored all summer when they could be having fun at Northeast Texas Community College. It is now time to register your children for NTCC’s annual kids camp.  NTCC Kids@College is designed for children ages 6-13+.  Instead of the usual two-week long session, the camp is being offered three times in a new week-long format.

The first one-week session will be held at the Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg, June 27-30 from 1-5 p.m.  The second one-week session will be at the main NTCC campus July 11-14 from 12:30-5:00 p.m. The last one-week session,  also on the main campus, runs July 25-28 from 12:30-5:00 p.m. The cost is $39 per course with additional supplemental fees depending on the class.

Kelly Wallis will be acting as director of Kids@College . “We are offering a variety of classes this year that will prove to be a ton of fun. The classes will range from cake decorating and cooking with a chef to Tae Kwon and mad science.   I am very excited to be teaching cake decorating this year.  I took this class at the college years ago, and have since started a successful cake business.  This year my daughter will get to take the class from me,” she said.

Some new twists on the summer camps include a two hour Police Academy and a Cooking with the Chef class.  Those teaching these courses felt that a one hour class would not provide sufficient time.  Also being offered is a four hour Babysitting Camp for teens ages 13 and up.  Students will learn the ins and outs of running their own babysitting business along with CPR.

“We think your kids will have a great time learning new skills and meeting new friends, so bring them out. We look forward to teaching them,” Wallis said.

Just like college students, kids planning to register for NTCC Kids@College should attend early registration at NTCC on June 2 from 1-5 p.m. in the Student Union Building on the main campus.  A second registration date is set for June 6 from 1-5 p.m. at the Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg.  A registration late fee will be accessed after those dates.
