Spots still available for children’s sacred summer music camp

Spots are still available for Kilgore College’s children’s sacred music camp, “The Music Machine at KC.”

 

The camp is open to children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Late registration will run through July 31.

 

Hosted

by the Kilgore College Music Department and sponsored by the Kilgore

Ministerial Alliance, the camp is set for 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday

through Friday, Aug. 8-13. 

 

The

camp will conclude at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, with a final children’s

performance in Van Cliburn Auditorium on the Kilgore campus.  The

performance is free and open to the public.

 

Cost of the camp is $125 per child, and the camp is limited to 50 students.

 

The

registration fee includes all camp materials, supplies and daily lunch.

There is a discount of $10 for each additional child who registers from

the same family.

The camp will offer classes on hymn study and traditional Christmas carols while also preparing a sacred children’s musical.

 

Jeanne

Johnson, KC’s chair of music and dance, will serve as director of the

camp, and Kimberly Earnhardt Lee will serve as music director.  James

Vermillion, music director at Kilgore’s St. Luke’s United Methodist

Church, will serve as the camp’s director of hymns and carols.
