NTCC moves to online schedule format

To continue to reduce costs while also increasing the access to ever-changing course information, Northeast Texas Community College will no longer mass produce printed course schedules. Instead, schedules are available online at www.ntcc.edu/schedules.  This change will begin with the 2011 holiday mini-mester.

This measure will result in substantial cost savings to the college, while also assuring students are aware of the latest information about course offerings.

"As a campus we have made a commitment to be more environmentally-friendly and this is a significant step in reaching that goal. Each semester we were throwing away hundreds of schedules and it just makes sense to move to an online format," NTCC President Brad Johnson, said. “The bigger advantage to students is that they will be encouraged to refer to the latest information about what courses are available, when and where they are taught, and which have space for them.  Using paper schedules means the information in them is obsolete as soon as enrollment begins.”

The schedules for the holiday mini-mester and the spring 2012 semester are now online. A printer-friendly version is available to download for those who wish to have a printed copy. A new full-service copy center is also available in the College Store, which offers affordable copying and printing services.

"We realize that some students will still want to have a hard copy of the schedule, so we have expanded our copy center to be more available to students. We also have plenty of computers available on campus for individuals who may not have internet access at home," Beth Thompson, NTCC Vice President for Administrative Services, said.

The holiday mini-mester begins December 19 and the spring 2012 semester begins on January 17. Online registration is now open for both. For more information about schedules or registration, please call 903-434-8140.
