JEREMY MCMILLIAN is the latest Gilmer Buckeye to sign a scholarship to play football at the next level. He will be attending Texas College in Tyler and playing for the Steers. Standing behind him Thursday morning are his coach and family, from left, Gilmer Head Coach and Athletic Director Jeff Traylor, Teresa Venters and James Venters. Texas College is an historic post-secondary institution which provides a unique college experience for the students it serves. It has approximately 600 students. The college was founded in 1894 by a group of ministers of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church who were interested in offering a quality education to African American youth. The Steers compete in the Central States Football League of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
