Students from regional colleges have been invited to attend The University of Texas at Tyler College Art Symposium and Juried Art Exhibition 9 a.m. – noon on Friday, March 9, Gary Hatcher, art and art history department chair, announced.
The event, at the Fine Arts Complex, provides prospective students the opportunity to learn more about the UT Tyler Department of Art and Art History, meet art professors and tour facilities. Participants in the accompanied art exhibition also will compete for university scholarship awards.
The event agenda is as follows:
- 9 – 10:30 a.m. Students arrive, tour facilities, see demonstrations in classrooms and view exhibitions.
- 10:30 a.m. Scholarship awards announced.
- 11 a.m. Lunch.
“This recruitment event is a great way for us to introduce our department to the college community and meet potential futurestudents,” said Merrie Wright, assistant professor of art and event coordinator. “We’re also hosting an invitational exhibition called Educate-Expand-Inspire: An Exhibition of East Texas Art Faculty in the Fine Art Complex Gallery in conjunction with the symposium.”
