LONGVIEW -Today, the political action committee of the Texas Association of Business (BACPAC), the largest business community in the State, announced their endorsement of Republican candidate Tommy Merritt for State Representative in District 7. The Texas Association of Business (TAB) is recognized as the voice of Texas business, negotiating the legislative process in order to produce pro-business results. TAB holds legislators accountable to rein in spending, keep taxes low, and spur economic development.
“I’m honored to have the support of TAB in this election. I have a proven record of promoting business in East Texas and their endorsement is indicative of that fact. TAB is a statewide organization, but local East Texas input guided this endorsement and I’m privileged in the knowledge that the businesses in the community that I grew up in support my candidacy. Over 300 East Texas businesses, chambers of commerce, and individuals comprise our regions portion of the Texas Association of Business.”
Merritt added, “TAB’s work to achieve good public policy has allowed Texas to become a beacon of success to the rest of the nation and their support of my campaign is a true indication of my pro-East Texas business platform.”
“At this time East Texas again needs a champion that will be focused on job creation, not job devastation, and protect the energy industry, allowing them to create the jobs that are necessary to keep gas prices low.”
Tommy Merritt served his community in the Texas Legislature for 14 years. During his tenure, Merritt served as Chairman of the House Committee on Energy Resources and the House Committee on Public Safety. Merritt is also a business owner that strongly supports the completion of the Keystone Pipeline project as a crucial part of achieving North American Energy Independence.
