Kinsmen Home Health contributed $3,000 towards the 2012 Community Fund last Wednesday.

Kinsman Home Health is a locally-owned home care agency who has been in the community since 2004 providing nursing and therapy in individuals’ homes.

“The Upshur County Community Fund epitomizes the philosophy of benevolence which is manifested by giving to someone through an act of kindness or good will,” said Tina Misenheimer-Parker, RN, BBA, owner of Kinsman.

“Kinsman Foundation was a recipient of funds from the Community Fund in previous years for our hospice organization. The allocation of these funds to our hospice, in conjunction with donations from families and friends, allowed Kinsman to provide care to persons in our county who did not have insurance or were under-insured for hospice care,” she continued.

As a result, those individuals could receive hospice care in their home, local assisted living facilities, hospitals and nursing homes. The donations provided by the Upshur County community Fund and from local citizens allowed Kinsman Hospice to always accept patients needing the services, regardless of their ability to pay.

In May, 2011, a year after the death of her husband, Randy Misenheimer, Mrs. Misenheimer-Parker decided to continue to provide home health to the community, but she decided to sell the hospice to Heart to Heart Hospice in Longview.

The Board of Dirrectors of Kinsman Foundation voted to donate the remaining funds to the Upshur County Community Fund.

“This organization has proven over the years that money donated locally is used locally to benefit our citizens,” Mrs. Misenheimer-Parker explained. “We feel the board of the fund has the best decision makers to determine who can best use these remaining funds in a effort to benefit our local residents.”

Kinsman is available 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to meet the needs of anyone who is homebound, requires the skills of a nurse or therapist, and whose phsician feels will benefit from our services.

Dr. Steve Murry has been the medical director since 2011. Any questions regarding home health care can be answered by calling 903-680-2220.
