Longview – Today Texas Right to Life PAC (TRTL) announced their endorsement of Representative David Simpson in his re-election campaign for Texas House District 7.
Rep. David Simpson proved himself to be an unwavering pro-life leader during the 2011 legislative session. He even offered his own bill, the first bill he filed, to stop taxpayer funds from subsidizing the abortion industry. Simpson’s commitment to the sanctity of life earned him the accolades and support of the state’s largest pro-life organization.
“We were so pleased that Representative Simpson supported Texas Right to Life’s amendments to the state’s budget bill to accomplish the same goal as his own bill. We knew that we could count on Representative Simpson to protect life any time that a pro-life bill or amendment was before the House. We are proud to help him return to the State House,” said Dr. Joseph Graham, President of Texas Right to Life.
“Before 2011,” Graham continued, “Voters in District 7 did not have pro-life representation in the State House, but now constituents can be confident in David Simpson, a true pro-life champion.”
During his first session in the State House, Representative Simpson achieved a 100+% pro-life score, earning extra credit by co-authoring pro-life bills such as the landmark Sonogram Law, a bill to protect women from coerced abortions, and more. His A+ rating includes votes on budget amendments that stripped $64.3 million from the abortion industry in Texas. During the Special Session, Representative Simpson also supported a successful amendment to stop hospital districts from paying for abortions with local taxpayer dollars.
Representative Simpson is grateful to again be endorsed by Texas Right to Life PAC: “The first duty of government is to protect life. With the overwhelming support of constituents in District 7, I was glad to author and vote for many pro-life measures that directly protected unborn children.”
Texas Right to Life is the oldest and largest statewide pro-life organization in Texas that defends innocent human life from fertilization until natural death through legal, peaceful, and prayerful means. Visit TexasRightToLife.com for more information.
Representative Simpson defeated a 14-year incumbent in the 2010 primary by running on a platform of defending the Constitution, preserving East Texas family values, and restoring government to its proper, limited role. In only one session, Simpson earned the “Taxpayer Champion” award from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility and the “Freshman of the Year” award from Young Conservatives of Texas; he was also named “Co-MVP of the Freshman Class” by Capitol Inside for his effectiveness as a legislator.
