April Camp, co-founder of Hughes Springs-based FurrEver Pets (www.facebook/FurrEverPets), emailed The Mirror a wonderful reuniting story involving a mom who had her Yorkie stolen two years ago.

“As you know we recently helped rescued some of the pups from the Upshur County puppy mill case.” said April. “We hope you will share the touching story written by Chelsea Bailey, the mom of Fancy.”

So here in her own words is Chelsea’s story:

I had always wanted a Yorkie, when Corey and I first got married (poor as all get out) I gave my name to the Humane Society thinking I might get lucky and one would be available for me to adopt... A few months later I found one in the paper and wanted her sooo bad, Corey would have died if he knew how much she cost...

So my nanny feeling sorry for my poor self told me if I wanted her that bad she'd pay for half! SO all said and done, we named her Fancy (after Reba's song) ... five years later she was stolen from my grandmother’s house, we searched and searched, we put up flyers offering a reward in hopes somebody would return her, but nothing...

Three weeks ago my grandmother was reading the paper and came across a story about a puppy mill that had been busted up in Gilmer; they were allowing anyone who thought their dog was stolen to come look, not thinking in a million years that I'd go in and find her. Not only did I pick her out of all the Yorkies that were there but my nanny went in after and chose the same one! It confirmed in my mind I wasn't just trying to hard to find one that looked like her...

Still I had doubt how in the world would it be possible for us to actually find her! My nanny asked me the day after Fancy was stolen, "you think it's ok to pray for dogs?" Let me tell you, no prayer is ridiculous to God. He cares about us and He cares about us and our hurts, even if it's over a dog. Three days ago, a rescue called me and said she had been given my number. She said they had a few left from the dogs that were given to them to take in (the dogs were split between three shelters). She wasn't sure she had the one I even thought was Fancy, I went and looked at her Facebook page (with lots of doubt) and sure enough she was one of them! It only gets better people....

She was told all of the puppies were two years old and under which would mean the dog I thought was her was not her... I told her Fancy would be between 6-7 years old... Out of curiosity the lady went out to where the dogs were and called her name to see if she got a response. The first time she just kinda looked around so the lady turned around and walked back in and said her name again.Out of all of them she comes running and pawing at her. The lady was in shock that this was actually possible, that she could be our dog!

Behold it ended up we used the same vet and they were taking them in for second opinion. They took her in (not telling the vet that they thought she might be a patient of his). After looking her over they asked how old he thought she was, turns out the dog was not 2, but 6!!! I had told the ladies that the doctor would have all of her records and that if her dental records would help, that when Fancy got her teeth in, a row of her baby teeth did not fall out so I had to have them pulled. After pulling her file he looked at what teeth he had pulled it was two bottom and one canine, the dog he was examining had one baby canine still there!!!!!!!!!!

He said it must have came in after he pulled the other three teeth!! There is no way of saying 100 percent without a doubt that for sure she is Fancy, but in my book it's proof enough! When she brought her to us today she walked in the house like she had never missed a beat... All the love and attention from all the kids was crazy!!! My sister bathed her and gave her to me to dry she got as close as she could to me and started making this crying noise of course I cried (I feel like she's thinking why did you send me to that horrible place) and my sister kept saying she thought it was a cry of happiness that she was happy to finally be home! Puppy mills are horrible and I never imagined that that's where she had been for two years...

Thank goodness these terrible people were caught and these dogs will finally have homes where they are loved and cared for! Thank you so much FurrEver Pets for going out of your way to try and prove what we thought no one would believe!!! Fancy will never be caged, starved, or sleep in her own feces ever again. She is going to love snuggling up in bed next to people she loves tonight!!!!
