East Texas Communities Foundation Awardsover $200,000 in Scholarships
May 9, 2012- East Texas Communities Foundationis awarding over $200,000 in scholarships to high school and college students from East Texas for 2012. First time scholarships of over $130,000 were awarded to 70 students at a reception held in honor of the recipients at Marvin United Methodist Church on Thursday evening, May 3rd. Scholarship amounts rangefrom $500-$10,000 per student.
Over $70,000in scholarship renewals will be distributed later this summer, making a total of over $200,000 in scholarship grants in 2012 from 40 different scholarship fundsat East Texas Communities Foundation.This year’s scholarship recipients are:

East Texas Communities Foundation is a public charity that currently manages over $51 million in 178 unique charitable funds which support non-profit organizations and student scholarships. The mission of the foundation is to support philanthropy by offering simple ways for donors to achieve their long-term charitable goals. Any individual, group, or organization in East Texas can utilize the foundation to accomplish their charitable giving. Since the foundation was established in 1989, over $39 million has been distributed to charities and deserving young scholars.
