The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Gilmer Fire Department at Henderson and Harrison Sts. a block south of the courthouse.
It will come two days after an election on the district’s proposal to allow it to raise its current tax rate of 3 cents per $100 valuation to a maximum of 10 cents, the limit imposed by state law.
Items on the agenda for Monday’s meeting include considering any bids on property foreclosed for delinquent taxes, paying the city of Gilmer for dispatching services for the month of April, paying bills for the district, and paying bills for individual fire departments.
The district allots funds to 17 fire departments in the county.
Members of its board of directors include President William M. (Bill) Darby, Vice President Gaston (Bubba) DeBerry III, Paul Fite, and George Whisenhunt. The board has one vacancy.
The four county commissioners and the county judge appoint one member each to the board.
