Brandie Hammonds of Gilmer Awarded Texas Telephone Association Foundation Scholarship

May 2012—The Texas Telephone Association Foundation announced recipients of its annual scholarship selection.  Brandie Hammonds of Gilmer is one of six recipients selected from more than five hundred applications from across the state.  Hammonds will receive a TTA Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $1500 per year for four (4) years.

“We are proud to announce the recipients of the foundation scholarships for the 2012.  Brandie Hammonds was selected as one of six recipients from more than 500 applications received.  We are also pleased to award this scholarship in a community served by ETEX.  ETEX has supported the TTA Foundation for many years.  And, I know they also support schools and community programs in many ways,” explained Bill Colston Jr, Chairman of the TTA Foundation Board.

Danny Kellar of ETEX Telephone Cooperative added, "Congratulations to Brandie Hammonds for earning this very competitive scholarship.  There are so many outstanding students across the region and we are excited to see them recognized by the TTA Foundation."

Additional scholarship recipients beginning with the 2012 – 2013 school year are Jacqueline Brem of West, Elizabeth Buchanan of Springtown, Eddie Martinez of Sealy, Matthew of Skopik of Waco, and James Underwood of Harleton.

The TTA Foundation is a non-profit foundation that was created to support and promote educational endeavors, specifically through the granting of scholarships to individuals in support of technological and educational advances in the field of telephony.  Since its creation in 1984, the TTA Foundation has awarded more that $225,000 in scholarships to Texas students.
