Jury selection opens Monday in 115th District Court for the murder trial of Glenn Wade Myers, Jr., charged with shooting his sister last July, said Upshur County District Attorney Billy Byrd.

Myers, 55, of Big Sandy, is accused of killing 52-year-old Cindy Espinoza on July 2 at her rural western Upshur County home.

An autopsy showed the woman, whose home in the 1900 block of Nutmeg Road had a Big Sandy address, died from a gunshot wound to the head, Upshur County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Lyle Potter said.

Myers remained in Upshur County Jail Monday under $350,000 bond, according to the county’s judicial website.

Testimony in the case is scheduled to open June 18, Byrd said.

Former Upshur County District Attorney Tim Cone, now in private law practice near Gilmer, is Myers’ court-appointed attorney. 115th District Judge Lauren Parish will preside in the case.

I hope they seek the death penalty. This man doesn't deserve to live after what he did to his sister. Justice needs to be done for this family.
