TEXAS COUNTRY REPORTER was in Gilmer on a recent Thursday to film a segment about Doc’s Hot Links. It’s unclear whether he’s ever seen legislation being passed, but host Bob Phillips did get to see the tasty hot links sausage being made. Here, Phillips, right, watches owner Floyd Henderson mix up a batch that morning, getting ready for the lunch crowd. Texas Monthly magazine reported a few years ago that hot links are the only original East Texas cuisine. Phillips said that the segment may air in July, or may be worked into the popular show’s Fall schedule. He promised to let Gilmer residents know through The Gilmer Mirror. “We want everybody in Gilmer to be watching,” the affable Phillips said. He and his crew stayed for lunch, leaving about 1:30 p.m.
