June 21, Thursday will be a meeting for the Circle-V 4-H lessons on veterinary technician training. All students interested in learning to be a certified veterinary assistant are invited to join the group. Dr. Cherie Nazzal, from Animal Medical and Surgical in Gilmer on Highway 154, will teach the lessons and the meeting is organized by Andrea Brunson. The only fee involved is for the student to join 4-H and purchase the textbook written by Dr. Floron Faries, instructor at Texas A&M University.
Certified Veterinary Assistant training is taught at Upshur Rural Electric on Highway 154 in Gilmer, usually the fourth Thursday of each month. The 4-H meeting starts at 6:30 PM and the vet tech training is 7-8 PM.
The students are encouraged to perform community service and are taught many significant veterinary tips by working at the monthly low cost pet vaccination clinic at PETCO in Longview the fourth Saturday of each month at 12-2 PM. Vaccinations are given by a licensed veterinarian and the proceeds are donated to the Circle-V 4-H group and Pause for Pets Rescue group by Dr. Cherie Nazzal.
Anyone interested in joining is invited to contact Andrea Brunson, 903-720-7089.
