A big fireworks show is set for Tuesday night, July 3, at Buckeye Stadium, and it will be preceded by an “aerial salute and flyby presentation.”
Fireworks are sponsored by the East Texas Yamboree Association .
The show, which will be produced by Alpha-Lee Enterprises of Liverpool, Texas, will start at 9 p.m.
Public seating will be on the visitors’ side of Buckeye Stadium.
Patriotic music will be broadcast over 97.5 FM. The music and sound is being sponsored by Etex Communications.
“People inquire ‘when’s the next airshow in Gilmer?’ Well, the Flight of the Phoenix Aviation Museum no longer conducts communitywide open-house airshows at the local airport, but we are thrilled to announce something even better,” said museum director Steve Dean.
Brookshire’s Grocery Co. will sponsor Flight of the Phoenix Aviation Museum’s Escadrille Aerial Salute and Flypast performance at 8:30 p.m. that evening at the Gilmer Buckeye Football Stadium as the opening act for the annual community Independence Day Fireworks Celebration, Dean said.
The community fireworks show is sponsored and funded by the East Texas Yamboree. It is co-sponsored by ETEX Communications and graciously hosted by the Gilmer Independent School District, Dean said.
“The show is a huge community event that is enjoyed by thousands of local area residents,” Dean said.
Escadrille’s Aerial Tribute and Flypast opening act is a 12- minute high-energy, smoke, lights, and radial-engine-sound show choreographed to the accompaniment of a patriotic musical sound track. The event DJ/MC Jody Pearson, from ProSound in Lufkin, will broadcast patriotic music and a special sound track for both the aerial salute and the fireworks.
The special FM radio frequency, 97.5, will be available for the benefit of the hundreds who park their cars alongside the streets and highways nearby the Gilmer Buckeye Stadium. Those inside the stadium and adjoining fields will hear the music on the public address.
The event is free to the public.
