Redbirds take First in international 12U competition

The Harmony Redbirds 12U team (12-year-old and under) from Upshur County brought youth baseball honors home.

They participated in the Rawlings International Salute to Baseball tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Disney World Florida July 1 to 7.

They returned home with the 1st Place Championship trophy, after competing with 20 teams from the U.S., Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Panama and the Dominican Republic.

The Redbirds outscored their opponents 65-24 to capture the title.

They had superior pitching by Nick Hoelscher, Jaden Boles, Spencer Seahorn, JP Powers and Easton Blackstone.

They dominated with catchers Easton Blackstone and Spencer Seahorn.

A 3-run home run by Spencer Seahorn against the Austin Angels secured their spot in the Championship Game against the Florida Braves.

The Harmony Redbirds are unique, in that all 11 members of the select baseball team attend Harmony ISD.

The Harmony Redbird line-up is Josh Ventura, Konrad Eichelman, Easton Blackstone, JP Powers, Drake Harris, Drew McNeel, Spencer Seahorn, Collin Jones, Karson Wilhite, Jaden Boles and Nick Hoelscher.

They are coached by Jeff Blackstone, Ronnie McNeel and Jack Jones.

Many individuals, organizations and fund-raising events helped send the team to the nationals.
