“We are happy to announce the dates of July 23 through Aug. 17 for the second annual ‘Fill The Bus School Supplies Drive’,” announced Kelly Stretcher, First National Bank of Gilmer’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

“The ‘Fill The Bus’ drive last summer was begun as an effort to help school teachers, who many times pay out of their own pockets to provide for students who start school without the needed supplies,” he said. “The previous drive was such a success that we wanted to continue to make a difference for teachers and students again this year,” Stretcher said.

All school supply donations will be appreciated, with special emphasis on No. 2 pencils, 24-counts Crayons or similar generic or “store brand” products, 12-count map colors, round-tip scissors, glue sticks, wide-ruled notebook paper and boxes of tissues.

Cash donations will be accepted as well, and used to buy school supplies.

First National Bank of Gilmer, located at 201 N. Wood St. in Gilmer, and First National Bank of Gilmer’s Walmart location will be the donation sites.

First National Bank employees will collect all supplies and distribute them proportionally among the seven school districts based in Upshur County.
