The Dallas Cowboys moved their preseason record to 2-1 with a 20-19 victory over the St. Louis Rams Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.  The ‘Pokes starting offensive unit helped the hosts jump out to a 20-6 lead before the Rams made the contest close against the Dallas second and third team defensive units.

     Without a doubt, the highlight of the game was the emergence of Dwayne Harris as a potential go-to receiver for quarterback Tony Romo.  With injuries to Miles Austin (hamstring) and Dez Bryant (knee), there were major questions and concerns as to who Dallas could count on to step up and take up the slack until the number one and number two receivers were healthy and back in the lineup.  Harris was drafted in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.   He caught three passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys win, and appears to be the best option Romo has in the short term.

     Romo and most of the offensive starters went to the bench shortly after the beginning of the second quarter, mainly because they had played the twenty-five plays Coach Jason Garrett had set for them, along with the fact the unit looked very sharp.

     Garrett was pleased with the starting offense and defense in the game.  He doesn’t plan to play any of the starters in the final preseason game, set for this Wednesday night, August 29^th, at Cowboys Stadium.  The Cowboys will host the Miami Dolphins in that contest, but will only have one week before they begin playing for keeps.  They open the season exactly one week later, on September 5^th, when they travel to the new Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ to take on NFC East rival and defending Super Bowl Champions, the New York Giants.
