THIS PAVILION-TYPE BUILDING, called a pergola, is nearing completion at the vacant lot next to the Upshur County Library on Hwy. 154 W. (Tyler St.) in Gilmer. It on the site of the old Library Annex, which burned about 10 years ago. The dictionary defines pergola as “an arbor-type building with a lattice roof.” When the building was approved by the Gilmer City Council several months ago, they were told that it is similar to a pavilion, but could be moved if necessary. It will be used for outdoor programs, weather permitting. Construction was financed by the Friends of the Library.
