An interview with brain health expert Mark Underwood.

Why are the holidays the most stressful times of the year?

Most people have the Happy Holidays turn into Happy HoliDAZE as our brains slowly grind to a halt.

Too much food, too little sleep, too much shopping, stress, alcohol?!? We can’t wait until the holidays are over and we can get our minds back.

Crowded stores, screaming kids, holiday lines and office parties. It is hard enough to keep up with day-to-day life, and the holiday season tends to take us up and over the top!

How would you like to hear about a simple solution….?

1. Take time to reboot. During this time of the year, we are even more plugged in then normal. Taking a second or two to breath and possible unplug from all the electronics will help. It is hard to ignore the free shipping offers that keep overloading your inbox, but turning off the computer, even if only for 20 minutes, may help keep you sane.

2. Feed your brain. The brain and nervous system are comprised of 60 percent fat, so ensure your diet is rich in the Omega 3 essential fatty acids found in coldwater fish, fish oil, and flax oil. When you are on top of your game, you are less likely to be easily irritated by the inconsiderate drive that just took the last parking space.

3. Monitor your health. It’s free, quick, and easy! Keep tabs on your brain health this holiday season and make sure that your stress isn’t having an unhealthy impact, with the Free Online Memory Test.

SAMPLE INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

4. How long will it be before this research is able to be applied and actually help people?

5. Where can listeners go to learn more information?
