MOTHER FRANCES HOSPITAL AMONG TOP FIVE PERCENT IN NATION IN 2013 FOR
5TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Healthgrades Hospital Quality Report Names Mother Frances Hospital
-Tyler a Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence™
Recipient
Tyler, TX – Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler today announced that it
has once again received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical
Excellence™ in 2013. The distinction ranks Mother Frances Hospital -
Tyler among the top five percent of more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide
for its clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, a leading
provider of comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler is one out of only 10 Hospitals in Texas
to receive the Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence Award in
2013.
From 2009 through 2011, 262 hospitals showed superior performance in
caring for patients in the Medicare population, as measured by objective
clinical outcomes (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital
complications) across at least 19 of 27 of the most common conditions
and procedures. Nationally, if all hospitals performed at this level
from 2009 through 2011 a total of 164,414 lives could have potentially
been saved.
“Mother Frances Hospital has focused on quality care since we opened
in 1937. Our quality journey has led us to five straight years of care
that ranks us as having some of the best healthcare in the nation. The
recognition from Healthgrades is an honor and it reflects the dedication
to everyone who works here and our commitment to our patients,” said
Laura Owen, FACHE, CEO, Mother Frances Hospital-Tyler.
“Healthgrades helps consumers become more aware that hospital quality
matters and differs significantly from one hospital to another, even in
their own neighborhood,” said Evan Marks, EVP Informatics and
Strategy. “Since selecting a physician and hospital strongly impacts
patients’ odds of experiencing complications or emerging from their
procedure alive and well, patients should familiarize themselves with
the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence recipients
since these hospitals stand out above the rest for their overall
clinical performance across a broad spectrum of care.”
