Buckeyes fall to Bullard

BULLARD—Gilmer suffered their fifth loss of the season, when the Bullard Panthers won 60-31 Friday in District 16-3A action.

Gilmer faced Kilgore, 6-13, Friday night. The Bulldogs defeated Henderson 42-16 Tuesday.

Bullard built a 15-3 lead in the first quarter, and then pushed the advantage to 31-7 by halftime.

After the break, the Buckeyes scored the majority of their points, as the Panthers coasted to the win. Gilmer outscored the Bullard reserves 14-11 in the final quarter.

Bullard improved their season record to 11-10 with the victory.

Pat Finch recorded a double-double for the Buckeyes, with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Dakeilon Nelson was the second high Gilmer scorer with nine points. He had six rebounds.

Quinn Fluellen added four points, Daniel Smith three, and Andrew Hollis two. De Thomas and Juwan Hughes each contributed one point when they hit one of their two free-throw attempts.

For the second game in a row, Gilmer shot 55 percent from the free-throw line, hitting six of 11 attempts.
