7. Texas' Coal Fleet Is the Youngest In America

Texas has by far the youngest coal fleet in the nation with an average age of 28 years; the national average is 44 years. Several of the state's coal plants are state of the art and less than five years old. The youth of the Texas coal fleet means it has decades of useful life remaining that will be essential to maintaining the growth and vitality of the Texas energy economy.
