Wayne Oney was elected Monday night as Worshipful Master of Bethesda Lodge No. 142 in Gilmer, where two Masonic-related public events are scheduled Saturday (today).

After the lodge holds a fund-raising pancake breakfast from 6 a.m.-9 a.m., the Order of the Eastern Star No. 355 will hold a dinner at 5 p.m., followed by a public installation of its officers at 6 p.m., Oney said. Donations will be accepted at the pancake breakfast at the lodge hall, which is at the intersection of Trinity and Harrison Sts.

Xantha Parker will be installed as the Eastern Star’s Worthy Matron, succeeding Connie Duke.

Oney will succeed Bob Bates as the lodge’s Worshipful Master at its public installation of officers at the lodge hall at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

Also on Monday night, the lodge elected Brent White as Senior Warden, David Holden as Junor Warden, and re-elected both Secretary Jerry Fenton and Treasurer Sam Barton, said Oney.

Oney said he appointed Danny Robinson as Senior Deacon, reappointed Ivan Berry as Musician, and that he will later announce the appointments of a Junior Deacon and Chaplain.
