GILMER ARTIST KATHLEEN BISHOP had one of her abstract paintings selected for the 50th Annual Southwestern Watercolor Society Exhibition. The name of this painting is “Ticker Tape.” Nationally recognized artist Jean Grastorf juried the show. Out of 349 paintings submitted, 81 were accepted into the show. The exhibition opened Sept. 9 and runs through Oct. 18, at PFamily Arts Gallery in Plano and is open to the public. Paintings in the show are done in watermedia, which includes watercolor, acrylic, inks, gouache (no oils allowed) and include all genres: landscape, portrait, still life, floral, realism, abstract, etc. Southwestern Watercolor Society (SWS), which meets monthly in Dallas, was first organized in 1963 and is one of the largest watercolor societies in the nation. The society currently has over 450 active members.
