ETBU To Hold Global Missions Emphasis
MARSHALL, Texas (10/22/13) - The Great Commission Center (GCC) at East Texas Baptist University announces Global Missions Week will be held November 4-6, 2013. The community is invited to participate in the activities scheduled.
One event that may interest local churches looking for opportunities to serve is Missions Marketplace to be held on campus in Keys Gym on Monday, November 4, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. According to GCC Director Dr. Lisa Seeley, “There will be displays from over 30 different mission agencies and local organizations as well.”
Scheduled to have booths at Mission Marketplace are the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, Baptist General Convention of Texas Disaster Relief, Habitat for Humanity, International Commission, Wycliffe, Heart’s Way Hospice, Brother’s Keeper and more.
During Chapel on Monday, November 4 and Wednesday, November 6 at 10:00 a.m. in Baker Auditorium The Traveling Team (www.thetravelingteam.org) will present the program. The Traveling Team is an organization that visits college campuses, churches, and conferences to give a challenging talk on the “Biblical Basis of Missions.” The program presented challenges listeners to grow as World Christians and provides resources as well.
Global Missions Week will also kick-off ETBU’s annual participation in the Operation Christmas Child (OCC) campaign. A competition will be held between all the residential halls with the winner declared by a points system based on items provided to pack OCC boxes during a packing party on November 20.For more information, contact the Great Commission Office at 903-923-2175.
