MASCOT AUCTION GIVES FANS IN TEXAS FIRST CHANCE

Select 7-Letter Plates Available for Bids Nov 18 – Dec 18

November 7, 2013 (Austin, TX) – 27 million Texans are not all going to cheer for Texas teams.  So, here’s to you, Packers Fan in El Paso.  Bengals Fan in Baytown.  Here’s your chance to be the one and only Texan with the full spelling of your favorite team written right across your official Texas license plates.  The MyPlates.com Mascot Auction opens for bids November 18 atwww.myplates.com/auction.

Opening bids start at only $500. So, be sure to get your bids in.

This is the first time BRONCOS, PACKERS, BENGALS, VIKINGS, FALCONS, CELTICS, THUNDER, NUGGETS, PISTONS, and BOBCATS have ever been available on a Texas license plate, and it could be the last.  The winners of the MyPlates.com Mascot Auction own their plates for a 10-year term, with first dibs on renewing the plates after that.  The winners also have full rights to transfer or sell the plates to someone else.

By law, only a Texas license plate sold at auction by My Plates can be transferred. However, if the winners of the Mascot Auction plates choose never to sell and instead hand the plate on to heirs, the plates might never be available again.

That means this may be the first and only time these coveted plate messages are available for sale.

These ten plates have never been available before because only six letters were allowed on personalized plates in Texas until 2011.  When the State made seven letters available, MyPlates.com reserved these plate messages for auction, understanding such highly sought-after plates have tremendous potential to raise money for the State of Texas.

Since November 2009, Texans have purchased more than 168,000 My Plates, putting more than $20.1M in the general revenue fund, which helps pay for services for all Texans.
