I don’t need anything for Christmas, yet. Who knows though. Things break so often I may have to hit up the black Friday sales. I definitely don’t want to do that especially since black Friday is now on Thanksgiving Thursday. I am all for great sales but what I don’t understand is why we need so many sales and why it has to be on Thanksgiving.
Anyone remember the old console televisions that took two people to move? I remember having the same television for most of my young adulthood. We finally got a newer television when I was in high school. It was so big and heavy. That television lasted until about five black Fridays ago. Actually nothing was wrong with the big RCA console television besides the picture was a lot more red than it should have been. It lasted a good 20 years.
The new flat screen I replaced it with was a Black Friday purchase. I woke up at 3 a.m. to get to the store by 4 a.m. The televisions didn’t go on sale until 6 a.m. It was a great buy. I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to take it out the box. It was supposed to be a Christmas present but we opened it right away.
It was my first flat screen. I probably would not have bought it but it was such a good deal on black Friday. I would love to tell you, I still have that television but I don’t. It broke after three years. I made a few calls to see about having it repaired but it cost almost as much as the television did. The next black Friday I got two flat screen televisions. One to replace the broken one and one for the bedroom. They are still working, thankfully.
My husband got a new cell phone two years ago on black Friday. The main reason we got it was because, the one he had was getting hot and not working well. We got it on black Friday because it was buy one get one free. One of his family members benefited from that deal. However, I remember I still thought $200 was a lot for two phones. Now I see advertisements for getting a new cell phone now every year. I don’t understand why we need new phones every year.
I don’t understand why we have to get Christmas presents on Thanksgiving. Especially since, most of those purchases don’t make it under the tree. They are used right away.
I have noticed that it seems like one of my burners on my stove doesn’t seem to performing correctly. I have had that stove for over 10 years. I am almost scared to go out and buy a new one. I know I want a good product more than a good deal.
I have heard some people are protesting the new black Friday that is now on Thanksgiving Thursday. I have always been a fan of good deals but shopping on Thanksgiving seems somewhat wrong. I also know that some people wait all year for black Friday to get items they couldn’t afford otherwise.
No matter where you spend your Thanksgiving, I hope you have a great day and if you venture out I hope you get great deals.
