The event will be at Gilmont’s Crain Center at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.
Cost is $10, and all funds raised will go to the Upshur County Shares Food Pantry in Gilmer, which keeps hundreds of local people who are down on their luck from going hungry.
The Gilmont Empty Bowls Ministry involves clay bowls made by campers at Gilmont this past summer.
Camp director Tom Truitt said their goal is to serve 500 bowls of soup, so they can donate $5,000 to the Food Pantry. He spoke about the project at the Rotary Club meeting Nov. 19.
“Please join us,” he said. “In exchange for a donation of $10, you receive an evening of fellowship, music and fun and leave with a hand-crafted clay bowl.”
He said the bowls are reminders to pray for those who will go to bed at night with an empty bowl.
Please RSVP online at www.campgilmont.org/events, or call the camp’s office at 903-797-6400.
