Kilgore College will hold fall commencement Friday, Dec. 13. James N. Walker, Vice President of the KC Board of Trustees, will be the graduation speaker.

 

The graduation ceremony is set for 7 p.m. in Dodson Auditorium on the Kilgore campus.

 

Friday night’s procession will include 257 participants and 423 degrees and certificates are expected to be awarded.

 

Walker, of Gladewater, has served on the KC Board of Trustees since May of 1997. 

 

He graduated from Athens High School in 1954 and attended Stephen F. Austin State University two years on a tennis scholarship.

 

In 1959, he graduated from The University of Houston Pharmaceutical School.

 

He owned and operated a local pharmacy for 52 years from 1960-2011.

 

Throughout his career, Walker served four terms as mayor of Gladewater, served six years on the Gladewater City Council, six years as Gladewater’s mayor pro-tem, served as president of the Gladewater Jaycees, president of the East Texas Pharmacy Association and was inducted into the Mayor Hall of Fame in 1995.
