Texas Virtual Academy is a public charter online school in the state of Texas that serves about 6,500 students. Students will also be participating in three National School Choice Week Whistle Stop events in San Antonio, Austin and Houston. The students will be singing the National Anthem, saying the Pledge of Allegiance, ringing the NSCW bell, and speaking briefly about why school choice matters. “National School Choice Week gives Texas Virtual Academy an opportunity to celebrate our students, their parents, and our teachers,” said Sarah Robinson, family outreach liaison at Texas Virtual Academy. “We hope the entire community will celebrate National School Choice Week, and the successes of our school, along with us.”
“We’re thrilled that Texas Virtual Academy are participating in National School Choice Week,” said Andrew Campanella, NSCW president. “We hear a lot about education in the news, but the students, teachers, and school leaders at Texas Virtual Academy remind us that every single day, there are great things happening in schools of choice across America.”
National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for children – including traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online academies, and homeschooling. In its fourth year, the Week will coincide with a 14-city whistle-stop and motor coach tour that stretches from Newark to San Francisco. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
