Gilmer National Bank President Larry Cowan announced four promotions this week. Fran Johnson is Senior Vice President, Randy Duke was made Vice President, LariAnn Smith was named Manager Special Assets, and Mizty Owens is now Assistant Cashier.

Mrs. Johnson began working for Gilmer National Bank in May, 1972, as secretary to the late Malcolm Smith, who was president at that time.

“Larry Cowan is the fifth bank president I have worked for,” she said.

She takes care of investments for the band, including CDs and IRAs, and she is actively involved in the many community activities in which the bank participates.

Duke grew up in Gilmer. After graduating from Gilmer High School, he attended The University of Texas at Tyler, where he earned a business degree. He spent 31 years at Brookshire Grocery Company, where he was the Senior Vice President, Retail Operations.

After his career at Brookshire’s, he worked for a nonprofit organization as Vice President of Operations.

Randy joined Gilmer National Bank in 2009, and is proud to be a part of the GNB family.

Ms. Smith has been with Gilmer National Bank for 12 years. After graduating from Harmony High School, she attended Centenary College in Shreveport, La. She began her career with Gilmer National working in the Note Department.

Ms. Owens was hired in February, 2009, and has been a member of the Gilmer National Bank family for five of her 16 years in banking.

“I have accumulated a wide range of experience in several departments over the years, and am currently working in the Data Processing Department,” she said. “I am truly grateful to be working for Gilmer National Bank alongside some of the most respectable people in this business.”
