Both of the Scout’s parents, Jeff and Chandra Sorrells, were in attendance, not only to receive their Eagle pins in recognition of their contribution to the young man’s work, but also in uniform as the Scout Leaders each is.
Ken Scheid, Sorrells’ former Scoutmaster, read the Scout Law with Dwight Cook and Justin Deason assisting in the presentation.
Aaron Deason who has worked with Sorrells at Camp Pirtle and on other occasions gave the Eagle Segment.
Scoutmaster Freddie Fitzgerald and Ray Sorrells participated in the Eagle presentation.
After Eagle Scout Sorrells pinned the customary Eagle badge on his mother, Chandra Sorrells, he then presented his father, Jeff Sorrells, with a tie tack.
In conclusion, State Rep. David Simpson (R-Longview) congratulated the newest Eagle and gave him a Lone Star flag which had been flown over the state capitol in Austin in honor of the event.
Chris Peurifoy served as the Master of Ceremonies and gave the welcome, while the pastor of the First United Methodist Church which sponsors Troop 314, Rev. Richard Laster, gave the Invocation and the Benediction.
