Mark your calendars for Monday, May 12 and save the date for the Friends of the Library's Meet the Author at 6 p.m. in the meeting room of Gladewater's Lee Library at 312 Pacific. Speaker Bobby Hawthorne is a White Oak native who has lived in Austin since 1973.

He is a writer, national and international writing instructor, and a contributing reporter and columnist for an education magazine. He is the former academic director of the University Interscholastic League.

One of his most popular books is Longhorn Football: An Illustrated History. He also produced the text for "Home Field", a book of photos of Texas high school football stadiums. Hawthorne is known for his wit and is a popular speaker at events throughout the nation.
